NATHAN TIMMIS
Following a night out drinking, he demanded that she unblock him from Snapchat, and when her request was refused, he responded with physical violence by punching her in the face and body.
The assault resulted in serious injuries that necessitated hospital treatment.
The woman was terrified that she might be killed and worried she might not see her child or family again.
Timmis repeatedly struck her over a span of several minutes while she curled up to protect herself.
During the incident, he also destroyed items in the bedroom but appeared to realize his actions afterward, as he apologized and wiped blood from her face.
She was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital with a bruised and swollen face, a cut to her left eye, and bruising on her arms, back, and legs.
During court proceedings, Timmis pled guilty to causing actual bodily harm through assault.
He was sentenced to an initial 13 months in prison, suspended for two years, and was ordered to undertake 20 days of rehabilitation and a six-month supervision period.
Judge Richard McConaghy noted: 'You punched her to the face and torso multiple times.
You lost your temper and damaged items in the bedroom.
You then seemed to regain control and apologized, but her injuries were substantial.' The victim has since relocated to prevent him from tracking her down, stating, 'My life has been turned upside down.
I genuinely feared Nathan would kill me.
I thought I wouldn’t see my child or family again.
I was terrified, humiliated, and felt degraded.
I’ve had to seek counseling, and I haven’t spoken to him since the attack.' Timmis, residing on Hillwood Road in Madeley Heath, admitted to the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm in court.
