FATHER-OF-11 JAILED FOR ABUSE AND VIOLENCE
A father-of-11 who attacked a woman because he could not find a matching pair of socks has been sentenced to jail.Nathan Pulman, 42, also known as William, admitted abuse against a 38-year-old woman in various locations including Laurencekirk, Fyvie, Stonehaven, Forres, Elgin, Inverness, Invergordon, Perth, and Kinloch Rannoch.
He was sentenced to 38 months imprisonment at the High Court in Glasgow.
Pulman had previously served nine years in jail in 2013 for violence against women.
During the trial, Judge Lord Matthews stated, "You have pled guilty to a shocking catalogue of domestic abuse.
Your victim has been physically and psychologically harmed.
The best years of her life have been blighted." Prosecutor Bill MacVicar highlighted that repeated assaults were committed by Pulman, including on occasions when the woman was pregnant.
The victim described Pulman as a "Jekyll and Hyde" character, recounting how he would accuse her of lying, become angry, and then assault her.
She recounted incidents where Pulman made her sit in snow and tied a rope for her to hang herself, as well as an event in 2006 where she broke both wrists after being kicked from a moving chair.
Pulman admitted to assaulting her leading to permanent disfigurement, though his pleas of not guilty to other charges, including sexual assault, were accepted by the Crown.
The court also heard that Pulman admitted assaulting two children.
Lord Matthews noted that the sentence might have been higher but for Pulman’s previous imprisonment in Wales.
Police Scotland praised the bravery of the victims, with Detective Inspector Muriel Fuller emphasizing that "Their courage means that Pulman must now face the consequences of his cruelty." Pulman also admitted to assaulting two children.
Authorities did not specify a date of birth for Pulman, but based on his age of 42 at sentencing in 2018, he was born around 1976.
