NATASHA CORNWELL OF DUNFERMLINE SENTENCED FOR ASSAULT ON EX-PARTNER AND HIS MOTHER
A woman from Dunfermline named Natasha Cornwell, aged 35 and residing on Allan Crescent, was ordered to wear an electronic tag after appearing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing. She pleaded guilty to assaulting her former partner and his 77-year-old mother on December 4 at Gellatly Road, Dunfermline. The incident involved Cornwell striking her ex-partner in the head with her hand and knocking his mother’s glasses off her face during an argument. The depute fiscal, Andrew Brown, explained that the couple had been together for nine years. The altercation happened when the man returned home with his mother after work, and Cornwell, who was intoxicated at the time, became involved in a verbal dispute.
During the confrontation, she hit her ex on the face, prompting his mother to attempt to mediate, at which point Cornwell knocked off her glasses. Police reports included her own remarks, where she said: "I should have stabbed him in the eye, f****** p****."
Her defence solicitor, Amy Harley, stated that the relationship had ended but they remained friends, and noted that Cornwell was binge drinking at the time. She added that her client was remorseful and embarrassed by her actions.
Sheriff Susan Duff described the incident as unpleasant and attributed the cause largely to her alcohol consumption. She imposed a six-month restriction of liberty order, emphasizing the seriousness of the assault and highlighting concerns related to alcohol use.
