SOUTHFIELDS MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MANSLAUGHTER OF WIFE IN SHOCKING CASE
A Southfields man named Naseer Khan, aged 67, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter by means of diminished responsibility after murdering his wife, Tasneem Sheikh, in November of the previous year.Khan was presented in custody at Croydon Crown Court on April 29.
The court accepted the opinions of mental health professionals regarding his mental state.
As part of the court's decision, Khan was subjected to a hospital order under the Mental Health Act.
The incident occurred when police found the body of Tasneem Sheikh, aged 62, at her home on Balham Park Road.
A post-mortem concluded that her death was due to a head injury with underlying coronary artery disease.
Detective Sergeant Brian Jones from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command expressed the community’s grief, stating, “The tragic death of Tasneem Sheikh has left her whole family devastated and shaken the community in which she lived and played an active part.” He added, “Tasneem should have been safe in her own home but was subjected to a brutal attack which she could not survive.
We would like to pay tribute to Tasneem’s family for their support and dignity during such a difficult time in their lives.” Tasneem’s sister, Amtul Mateen Barbouche, remembered her as “kind and caring for everyone,” and expressed how her murder had a lasting psychological impact.
Her brother-in-law, Abada Barbouche, also spoke about the community’s shock and grief, emphasizing her kind-hearted nature and her efforts to help others.
The case has caused profound trauma and sorrow for her family and community, with Naseer Khan leaving behind a trail of devastation.
