NANA BAABI OF ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS FOR ONLINE GROOMING AND RAPE OF TEENAGER

A man has received an 11-year prison sentence after grooming a teenage girl online and raping her once she agreed to meet in person. Nana Baafi, aged 35 and from Ashton-under-Lyne, had been in contact with the 15-year-old girl repeatedly over several months, despite being aware of her young age. He was arrested during an operation aimed at combatting child sexual exploitation and was subsequently convicted of rape and engaging in sexual activity with a child following a trial. Detectives commended the victim's bravery and highlighted the critical role of online safety awareness in preventing such crimes.
