NADEEM MOHAMED SENTENCED IN GREATER MANCHESTER FOR OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOR NEAR SCHOOL
A man sexually exploited himself in his car near a school, targeting schoolgirls in uniform, a court was told.Nadeem Mohamed, 38, deliberately parked in the vicinity of the school in Greater Manchester and performed lewd acts so that schoolgirls could witness him, the Manchester Crown Court heard.
The court described these 'nauseating and repulsive' offenses as occurring at the end of the school day over three consecutive days in early 2018.
On February 5, 2018, a teenage girl noticed Mohamed parked in his Audi with the window down at around 3 pm, as students were leaving campus.
She saw him performing a sex act and took a photo of his car before returning inside the school to alert teachers, according to prosecutor David Lees.
The following day, another schoolgirl saw Mohamed performing another sex act.
She said she felt 'disgusted' by what she saw.
The next day, a third girl witnessed his inappropriate behavior, called him a 'paedo', and then walked away.
Mohamed was arrested on February 8, 2018.
An analysis of his phone revealed internet searches that indicated an apparent interest in teenage and pre-teen girls, the court was told.
All five victims were under the age of 16.
A judge noted Mohamed had 'targeted' the area around the school, where girls in uniform frequently passed, and 'clearly wanted them to see him.' One girl shared that she experiences 'flashbacks' and no longer walks home, instead taking the bus.
Another said the incident affected her behavior at school, becoming 'more aggressive.' Two other girls reported feeling anxious after the events.
Mohamed, of Cheetham Hill, pleaded guilty to five counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child during an earlier hearing.
Defense lawyer Michael Johnson said Mohamed was genuinely remorseful and fearful of prison.
"He has pleaded guilty," Johnson stated.
"He doesn't seek to minimize his behavior.
He has reflected on why he did it, and his victim empathy is clear." Johnson added that Mohamed’s own life experiences had impacted him, and he acknowledged his conduct could have similarly affected the teenage victims.
He emphasized that Mohamed has no previous convictions, is remorseful, and would comply fully with any court order.
On Monday, Mohamed was sentenced to two years in jail, suspended for two years.
He is required to complete 55 days of rehabilitation activities, including a specialist sex offenders program.
Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
Judge Hilary Manley stated during sentencing: "You targeted areas outside a school.
And you targeted teenage schoolgirls who were wearing school uniform.
You clearly wanted them to see you.
It is disgusting and unacceptable that they were targeted on their way home from school, where they are going to learn and grow, only to be subjected to your nauseating behavior." She acknowledged Mohamed’s personal difficulties and noted that the case’s presentation was an 'unconscionable' burden on the court.
She highlighted that Mohamed had not offended since and believed there was a genuine chance of rehabilitation.
However, she warned him to work with the probation service to prevent any future offending.
