NACEREDDINE BOUMELIL JAILED IN LEICESTER FOR GROOMING AND SEXUAL ABUSE OF 13-YEAR-OLD SCHOOLGIRL
In July 2013, a disturbing case of grooming and sexual misconduct involving a Leicester-based businessman, Nacereddine Boumelil, came to light, resulting in his subsequent imprisonment.The 36-year-old man, residing on Evington Lane in Leicester, was found guilty of engaging in inappropriate and illegal sexual activities with a teenage girl, who was only 13 years old at the time.
According to court proceedings, Boumelil had initiated contact with the young girl through a series of sexual emails, which were discovered by her mother.
The mother’s discovery prompted an investigation that revealed the extent of Boumelil’s misconduct.
Prosecutor Paul Prior detailed that the defendant not only sent sexually explicit messages but also attempted to bribe the girl with money, offering her as much as £60 in exchange for sexual favors.
Despite her refusal, Boumelil managed to isolate her on one occasion, during which he simulated sexual intercourse and touched her inappropriately over her clothing.
The court heard that these offenses occurred around the year 2011.
The victim, in a personal statement read aloud in court, expressed her emotional turmoil, stating, "I find it difficult to put into words my emotions.
I feel angry and upset.
Sometimes it is hard to trust people." Her words underscored the lasting impact of the abuse on her mental health and sense of security.
Judge Robert Brown delivered the sentence, condemning Boumelil’s actions as a clear case of exploitation.
He stated, "You found opportunities to abuse this little girl, touching her in a sexual way, groping her breasts and legs.
You weren’t deterred by her rejection.
You simulated sex with her more than once.
You sent her sexual messages and tried bribing her into sexual acts.
There was grooming of this little girl.
I accept there was no penetration involved." During the hearing, Boumelil’s defense, represented by Alwyn Jones, highlighted that the defendant was a hardworking man with a previously good character, running a small shop until his arrest.
The defense also emphasized that, although there was inappropriate touching, no full sexual intercourse took place.
Ultimately, Judge Brown sentenced Boumelil to four and a half years in prison, reflecting the seriousness of his misconduct and the harm caused to the young victim.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of grooming and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation.
