FIFE WOMAN MURIEL MELVILLE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND ONLINE SHARING
A woman from Fife has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a three-year-old child and the distribution of explicit images related to the abuse.
Muriel Melville, aged 73 and a resident of Dunfermline, admitted to assaulting the young child.
Her actions came to light through online communications with Michael Leith, aged 48, who was also implicated in encouraging and inciting the abuse.
During the investigation, Melville revealed a disturbing and unsettling mindset, openly expressing that her feelings towards such acts were 'very much alive.' This chilling admission was part of her testimony, which underscored the severity of her offending.
In addition to her assault on the child, Melville also sent a pornographic image depicting the abuse to Leith, who had actively encouraged her to carry out these acts.
The court proceedings resulted in both individuals being sentenced to prison terms.
