A man named Muhammed Asad Niazi, aged 29, has appeared in court accused of murdering his partner by hitting her with a hammer 40 times. The victim, Charito Cruz, aged 37, a care worker and mother of one, died from head injuries at her rented residence on Cambridge Road in Kingston. Court proceedings revealed that Niazi was silent as the murder charge was explained in the Old Bailey. His landlady found him with their daughter in his arms after the incident. No bail was requested by his legal counsel, Andrew McArthur. The judge, Tim Pontius, remanded Niazi in custody for a plea and case management hearing scheduled for January 4 of the following year.
