EAST LONDON PARK RAPIST SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS
Moitur Rahman, a 25-year-old man of no fixed abode known to London, was convicted of a serious sexual assault on an 18-year-old woman in Roding Valley Park, East London.According to reports, Rahman approached the victim around 9:15 a.m.
on 7 February, threatening her and demanding she walk with him by claiming he had drugs and knew police were near.
He then forcibly grabbed her by the neck and forced her into a bush, where he committed a severe sexual assault and stole her mobile phone to prevent her from calling the police.
After she managed to escape and return to the main part of the park, Rahman saw her and re-forced her back into the bushes, assaulting her again before fleeing the scene.
Authorities quickly identified Rahman through forensic evidence, leading to his arrest on 12 February 2018 in Stratford and subsequent charging on 13 February.
Rahman pleaded guilty to one count of rape, two counts of attempted rape, four counts of assault by penetration, and one count of theft at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Detective Sergeant Vince Fedder expressed that the victim's bravery was commendable and hoped Rahman would receive a substantial sentence for his actions.
