MOHAMMED YOUNAS FROM HIGH WYCOMBE SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR ABUSE AND RAPE OF YOUNG GIRL

In a case that has shocked the community of High Wycombe and the wider Buckinghamshire area, Mohammed Younas, a former police officer, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for heinous acts of sexual abuse and rape involving a young girl. The court heard that Younas, aged 43, committed these despicable crimes over an extended period, beginning when the girl was just seven years old and continuing until she reached the age of 15.

Younas’s misconduct was brought to light after a series of complaints from witnesses, which led to his dismissal from Thames Valley Police. The police force took disciplinary action against him following reports that he had repeatedly threatened witnesses who had come forward with allegations against him. Additionally, it was revealed that Younas had contacted a 14-year-old girl who was a witness in a case he was handling, asking her out on a date, further demonstrating his inappropriate behavior.

The judge presiding over the case, Judge Francis Sheridan, described Younas’s actions as among the most ‘despicable’ he had encountered in his judicial career. The court was told that Younas’s abuse of the young girl was driven by personal issues, specifically his unhappy marriage. The court heard that during a period of mental distress, Younas’s behavior deteriorated significantly, leading to the abuse that persisted for years.

It was revealed that Younas’s misconduct included raping the girl on multiple occasions, sometimes as frequently as every other day. The court also learned that he forced the girl to touch him while they played a board game, an act that compounded the trauma inflicted upon her. The abuse was reportedly motivated by his wife’s refusal to have sex with him, which appeared to be a catalyst for his violent and predatory actions.

Younas’s conduct extended beyond the abuse of the young girl. Court testimony indicated that he had also forced another child to touch his genitals. His behavior was erratic and disturbing; witnesses described him arriving at work intoxicated after consuming a bottle of vodka and wandering the streets aimlessly, even stopping traffic while on duty.

Despite his dismissal from the police force, the court was told that Younas’s abusive behavior did not cease. The judge emphasized the severity of his crimes, stating, ‘This was the most despicable offence. It’s hard to imagine a worse case.’ The court found Younas guilty of 15 counts of rape and sexual assault after a jury deliberated on the evidence presented.

Younas, who originally came to the UK from Pakistan, hails from a family with a respectable background. His sisters are both professionals—one a consultant doctor and the other a headteacher—and his father served as a colonel in the Pakistan Army. However, his personal struggles, including a nervous breakdown linked to his troubled marriage, appeared to have contributed to his descent into criminal behavior.

The judge condemned Younas’s actions, highlighting the damage inflicted on his victims. He stated, ‘You and your wife were totally incompatible, there was a clash of cultures and views on family life. You were dismissed from the police because you were totally unsuitable to be a police officer. You displayed signs of a man on the verge of a breakdown. You walked around the street drunk, stopping traffic. You threatened witnesses who made complaints against you and you rang a 14-year-old girl to ask her to go out with you. The offending started at around the same time. You showed contempt for your wife and you left your victims psychologically damaged. You robbed them of their childhood. It’s the most dreadful, dreadful case I must sentence you for.’

In addition to his prison sentence, Younas was subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which prohibits him from having unsupervised contact or communication with anyone under the age of 16. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and received a restraining order that bans him from contacting the victims directly. These measures aim to protect the community and prevent further harm from the convicted offender.
