A 57-year-old man from Dudley has been sentenced to 18 months in prison following convictions for sexual offences involving a young girl.
Mohammed Saddiq, who resides on New Street and was described as a person of 'exemplary character,' was also ordered to register as a sex offender for a decade.
During his trial, Saddiq was found guilty of encouraging a child to participate in sexual acts as well as sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13.
His solicitor, Mr.
Alan Parker, portrayed Saddiq as a 'vulnerable individual' and insisted that his client maintained his innocence regarding the charges.
He added that the victim had not suffered significant harm and expressed confidence that Saddiq would not reoffend once freed.
Judge Michael Challinor prohibited Saddiq from working with children in the future and mandated that he have no contact with anyone under 16.
Addressing the defendant, the judge said, 'I am quite satisfied you knew you were doing wrong,' noting Saddiq's nervous behavior during the court hearing.
The judge also acknowledged a lack of evidence indicating the victim was severely harmed, mentioning that she had viewed the incident as a kind of game.
