GLASGOW MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND LINKED TO RACE HATE MURDER
A man named Mohammed Maqsood, aged 36, who has previously been convicted mainly for road traffic offences, was sentenced to six years in prison for raping a teenager in his car.During the court hearing, the judge, Lady Stacey, ordered Maqsood to be monitored in the community for two years after his release due to concerns about his risk to the public.
The court described how Maqsood targeted the teenage girl, who was intoxicated and mistakenly believed she was with a friend of a friend, when he performed a U-turn after seeing her staggering on the street.
He subsequently took her to a car park at the rear of Main Street, Thornliebank, near Glasgow, where he sexually assaulted her.
The judge noted that Maqsood had created the environment to commit this crime and described his actions as those of a sex offender.
The victim was reportedly distressed, missing her top, bra, and high heels, and had only a jacket covering her.
The court also revealed that Maqsood lied during his trial, denying involvement in the 2004 race hate murder of Kriss Donald and claiming he was elsewhere at the time of the crime.
This incident is connected historically as the same individual, who blamed Maqsood along with others for the race hate killing of Kriss Donald, was associated with the case.
Despite previous convictions, Maqsood has not been imprisoned for sexual offences before.
The court emphasized his disregard for the law and noted that social reports indicated he poses a risk to the public.
