MOHAMMED ISLAM'S HORRIFIC CRIME SPREE IN LONDON: VICTIM'S TERRIFYING ORDEAL REVEALED
In a chilling case that has shocked the community, Mohammed Islam, a 33-year-old man from Stewart Street in East London, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for a series of heinous crimes involving sexual assault, emotional manipulation, and voyeurism. The disturbing events unfolded over several years, beginning with a meeting in Bangladesh in 2008, and culminating in a campaign of abuse that left his victim traumatized and fearful for her safety.
According to the Metropolitan Police, Islam’s criminal activities came to light after a lengthy investigation.
He was found guilty in December of three counts of rape, one count of battery, and one count of voyeurism.
His sentencing took place at Snaresbrook Crown Court, where the court heard the full extent of his malicious actions.
Initially, Islam and the victim, who was then a young woman, met in Bangladesh.
The relationship appeared innocent at first, but the dynamics changed dramatically after she moved to the United Kingdom in 2010 to pursue her studies.
She stayed with a relative in London, and during this period, she maintained contact with Islam, believing him to be trustworthy because she had given him her phone number.
However, their relationship soon turned abusive.
Islam’s behavior grew increasingly threatening when he saw her talking with other men, revealing his controlling nature.
The situation escalated late in 2010 when they met up, and Islam took her to a friend’s house.
There, he coerced her into having sex by threatening to contact her parents and falsely claim they were in a relationship, which would have potentially ruined her reputation.
In her fear, the victim sought help from one of Islam’s friends, but he dismissed her pleas and told her to return to Islam.
Islam then forcibly dragged her into a bedroom and raped her, secretly recording the assault on his mobile phone without her knowledge.
Following this assault, Islam threatened her with exposure, warning that if she did not comply with his demands, he would tell her family they were having sex, knowing that such a revelation could lead to her being disowned or thrown out by her uncle.
Over the following months, Islam continued to manipulate and threaten her.
He falsely claimed they were now in a relationship and that they could have sex frequently.
He also boasted that he had footage of the initial assault and threatened to show it to her family or post it online with her phone number, implying she was a prostitute.
His threats extended to violence, including a warning that he would kill her if she attempted to see other men.
Islam raped her a second time, again recording the assault.
The victim’s mental health deteriorated significantly by February 2013, as she suffered from severe depression due to the ongoing abuse.
Her academic performance declined, and her parents expressed a desire for her to marry.
When she confided this to Islam, he flew into a rage, insisting she could not marry another man and demanding she come to his house.
He threatened to ruin her life if she refused.
On one occasion, Islam raped her at his East London residence before expressing his dominance over her, saying, “I am so lucky; I am so happy.
I am controlling your life.” When she refused to go home with him after a shift at work, he attacked her and her colleague, strangling her and assaulting the colleague with a set of keys before fleeing the scene.
It was only after her colleague convinced her to report the abuse that she found the courage to come forward.
Her bravery led to Islam’s arrest on March 5, 2013.
He was subsequently charged and convicted for his crimes.
Detective Constable Caroline Horden, from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, commented on the case, saying, “The victim has shown great strength of character, she found the courage to come forward and speak about her terrible ordeal and because of this a very dangerous individual has been brought to justice.” This case highlights the severe impact of emotional and sexual abuse and underscores the importance of supporting victims to come forward and seek justice against perpetrators like Mohammed Islam, whose actions have left a lasting scar on his victim’s life.
