2015: JAILED: BAKERY WORKER WHO THREATENED TO KILL WORK COLLEAGUE AND YOUNG SON AFTER SHE REJECTED HIS SEXUAL ADVANCES
Mohammed Ali, a 31-year-old bakery employee, issued death threats to a female colleague and her young son through a series of alarming messages after she rejected his romantic advances. The incident began after Ali met the woman in August the previous year at Greenhalgh's bakery in Lostock, and the two initially developed a friendship.
When she chose to end their contact and declined a romantic relationship, Ali started sending menacing messages via text and Facebook during late December and early January.
His threats included statements like "I know where you live.
I kill you.
You cannot run away from me" and "If I find you, I promise I will kill you." He also forwarded disturbing images, such as one depicting someone inscribing 'I love you' into their arm and another showing bleeding eyes.
The threatening messages intensified on January 9 and 12, when Ali sent images of a firearm and bullets, accompanied by threats toward her and her child's safety.
In court, the victim expressed her fears: "I am scared for my life, and I am scared for my son's life.
I am scared he will discover my address.
I believe he could kill me and my son." Ali admitted guilt to causing the woman to fear violence through his actions and to making threats against her and her son.
Despite having no previous convictions and having worked in the UK since moving from Iran at age 19, he was sentenced to ten months in prison and ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge.
The judge remarked to Ali: "She was plainly terrified due to your conduct.
Although there was no physical assault, the messages were there for her to read and consider what might happen."
