BANBURY 'SOCIAL MEDIA PARTY' SEX ABUSE GANG JAILED
A group consisting of five men and a teenage boy who sexually abused underage girls by grooming them in Oxfordshire have been sentenced to prison.The group targeted seven young girls aged between 13 and 15, taking advantage of them in various locations such as cars, wooded areas, or their own homes in Banbury.
During the trial at Oxford Crown Court, it was revealed that they lured victims to parties arranged through social media platforms, and in March, they were found guilty.
Ahmed Hassan-Sule, aged 21 and residing in Glyndebourne Gardens, received a nine-year prison sentence plus an additional five years on license.
Mohamed Saleh, 22, from Orchard Way, was sentenced to four years and nine months.
Said Saleh, aged 20 and also from Orchard Way, was given a four-year term.
Takudzwa Hova, aged 21 from Broughton Road, was sentenced to six years with four more on license, while Kagiso Manase, 21 of Warwick Road, received a five-year sentence.
Zsolt Szaltoni, aged 18 of Portway, was sentenced to three years in a youth detention center.
After the sentencing, one of the victims, who was just 14 at the time of the abuse, shared her experience.
She explained to the BBC that she was assaulted inside a car after attending a Facebook-organized party.
"I got into the car because the others left and I was on my own and I didn't know what else to do, so I just went along," she recounted.
She described feeling frightened and unsure of her actions, realizing only later that her ordeal was part of a premeditated abuse.
"I was in the back but in the middle of the seat… I was just scared.
I didn’t know what to do, but they had planned it in advance.
They spoke their own language… and I didn’t understand." The girl revealed that the abuse persisted even after the initial incident.
"It gradually involved more people.
He asked me whether I would work for him, and I responded with ‘No’ and just laughed.
But looking back, I now understand I was being coerced into sex work." She stated that she believed her choices were her own, but in reality, she was manipulated and brainwashed into thinking it was her decision.
Her abuse was uncovered when a member of the Kingfisher team—a collaborative initiative targeting child exploitation in Oxfordshire—visited her at school.
She expressed disappointment that other girls hadn't come forward, saying, "I know there are more girls out there, and it’s upsetting that they don’t have the courage to speak up." She also shared her hope of joining the Kingfisher team herself, so she can support others who have experienced similar trauma.
"For me, it’s important to do that.
It gives me closure, doesn’t it?"
