OFFENDER PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ASSAULT AT ANGUS BUS STATION
A woman was subjected to a disturbing sexual assault at Arbroath bus station by a stranger identified as Mitko Markov.The incident occurred after she left a nightclub, around 1:30 am, seeking a taxi from the station.
She reported that the male approached her, a foreign national, and exposed himself by pulling down his trousers.
The woman was confused and did not consent to this action.
Subsequently, Markov approached her again, placed his hand inside her underwear without her permission, and she immediately pushed him away and called the police.
Officers found her hiding in the Burnside Drive area, visibly frightened.
Markov spoke broken English and told her, "Do you want to have sex?
Come to my house," after being detained.
He later pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting her and exposing himself on August 28, 2023, and is now a registered sex offender.
Markov is currently remanded in custody, with sentencing deferred until later this month pending a social work report.
He is subject to sex offender registration requirements.
