In a disturbing incident that has shocked the Birmingham community, 23-year-old Milion Kiflemariam was involved in a violent assault against his pregnant partner. The incident unfolded in the streets of Birmingham, where Kiflemariam reportedly grabbed his partner around the neck in a forceful manner, dragging her along the pavement towards a nearby pub. Witnesses described how he then proceeded to punch her multiple times in the head, a brutal attack that ultimately caused her to lose consciousness.

The victim, who was approximately 30 weeks pregnant at the time, sustained visible injuries including cuts and bruises to her face. The assault drew the attention of bystanders, who quickly intervened and managed to pull Kiflemariam away from her until the police arrived at the scene. The severity of the injuries and the violent nature of the attack prompted immediate police action.

During court proceedings, Kiflemariam admitted to the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. In his statement, he expressed remorse for his actions, describing his partner as a good lady and a caring mother. He also conveyed confusion and regret over his violent outburst, indicating that he could not understand why he reacted so aggressively.

On June 19, Kiflemariam was sentenced to a 12-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years. The court also ordered him to complete a 35-day rehabilitation activity and perform 120 hours of unpaid work. During a police interview, Kiflemariam further admitted to hitting and kicking his partner but was vague about the specific details, citing fears of imprisonment as a reason for his reluctance to provide a full account.
