Nottingham Sexual Abuser
A man from Nottingham has been sentenced for serious sexual offenses. Mikhail Mohammad, aged 45 and residing in Radford, was given a 10-year prison term for the crime of raping a 13-year-old girl. Additionally, he received a nine-month sentence for fraud related to failing to disclose a previous conviction. The court heard that Mohammad had initially befriended the girl, her mother, and her sister before taking her back to his flat and raping her in November 2010. Despite denying the rape, Mohammad pleaded guilty to the fraud charge. The case also revealed that Mohammad had a previous conviction for indecent assault on a girl in 1991, which prohibited him from working with children. However, he changed his name for what the judge called "perfectly legitimate reasons" and successfully obtained employment in a school in Nottingham, where his victim was a pupil. The judge described the abuse of trust as "gross" and emphasized the lasting harm caused to victims of such crimes. Mohammad was also ordered to be on the sex offenders' register for life, disqualified from working with children, and was given a Sexual Offence Prevention Order.
