MICHEAL HARTIGAN FROM LONDON CAUGHT IN HULL SEX OFFENSE SCANDAL
In a disturbing case that highlights the dangers of online predation, Micheal Hartigan, a 25-year-old man from London, traveled a significant distance to engage in illegal sexual activity with a minor.The incident took place earlier this year in Hull, where Hartigan made the journey from his residence on St Marks Road, Kensington and Chelsea, with the intent of meeting and having sex with a 14-year-old girl he had contacted through the internet.
According to court proceedings, Hartigan's actions involved not only the act of traveling over 150 miles from London to Hull but also engaging in sexual intercourse with the underage girl.
The case was brought before Hull Crown Court, where prosecutor Dale Brook detailed the circumstances, stating, "The defendant’s conviction relates to contacting a 14-year-old girl on the internet, and then travelling up to the Hull area and having consensual sexual intercourse with her." Following his conviction, Hartigan was sentenced in October to three years in prison after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a child.
The court also imposed strict measures to prevent any future harm, including a sexual harm prevention order.
Judge Mark Bury issued the order, which explicitly bans Hartigan from having any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 for a period of ten years.
Furthermore, the order prohibits him from communicating with any child under 16 via the internet, mobile phones, or social media platforms.
The judge emphasized the importance of these restrictions, stating, "These orders are designed to prevent you from doing anything silly, and in that sense they are there to help.
If you do breach this order, that is a separate criminal offence and the punishment is a sentence of imprisonment up to five years." In addition to the restrictions, Hartigan was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure that underscores the seriousness of his actions and the potential risk he poses to the community.
His case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat online grooming and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.
