POLISH MAN JAILED AFTER VIOLENT CAMPAIGN AGAINST PREGNANT WOMAN IN CROXTETH
Michal Swierczynski, aged 28, of Stonedale Crescent in Croxteth, was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of assault and coercive and controlling behaviour. During the court hearing, it was revealed that he subjected a woman to a campaign of alcohol-fuelled abuse, which included slapping her, spitting in her face, threatening to stab her, and violently attacking her on several occasions. Notably, he once punched her in the stomach despite knowing she might be pregnant, and on other incidents, he slammed her head into his car’s gear stick and threatened her with a fork. The court heard that Swierczynski's behaviour was erratic, fueled by alcohol and extreme jealousy, oscillating between violence and remorse. The judge described his conduct as developing into a domineering and violent relationship, with a serious alcohol problem. Swierczynski had previously been charged with coercive and controlling behaviour as well as assault, and had pleaded guilty, which the defense stated was a responsible decision. Judge Robert Trevor-Jones noted that his controlling and violent behaviour worsened over time, leading to his jail term.
