Michael Young

Tuebrook Everton Sexual Abuser

April 2014 Child rapist left 15-year-old victim pregnant and in fear of contracting hepatitis C A convicted rapist who left his 15-year-old victim pregnant and in fear of contracting his sexually transmitted disease was locked up for life. Michael Young, 28, went on to attack his terrified victim just months after being released from a prison sentence for the rape of a 14-year-old, whom he dragged into bushes to assault. “Dangerous” Young was told by a judge he would spend at least 15 years behind bars – and that may never see the light of day. He was working at a city centre bar when he befriended his vulnerable victim, who had split up with her boyfriend that night.  They ended up near the Port of Liverpool building, near Pier Head, in the early hours of June 15 last year, where Young struck. Liverpool Crown Court heard how he pushed her to the floor and held his hand over her mouth to muffle her cries for help. Judge Stephen Everett said: “You did not give two hoots about her, you gave no thought to her at all. As it turns out you have hepatitis C – you knew that. “She had a termination because she rightly believed you had made her pregnant. “Even if she was wrong and I was wrong, it doesn’t make any difference because she genuinely believed that you had made her pregnant.” Following the pre-planned sex attack, Young walked back into town holding his victim’s hand. But police had been alerted and when they confronted Young, she immediately told officers what had happened. Judge Everett said: “You were hoping she might put it down to some sort of terrible experience when she woke up in the morning and would have felt incapable of making a complaint. “She underwent a prolonged ordeal having to stay with you, having raped her, not knowing how to react, not knowing if you were going to inflict serious violence upon her.  “It must have been a terrifying experience.” Young, of Thirlmere Road, Everton, denied rape but was convicted after a trial. Judge Everett said Young presented a “very high risk” of sexual harm to women, in particular teenage girls, and that he would have to convince a parole board if he was ever to be released. He added: “Simply that night you decided you wanted to have sex and you did not care.” The court heard that the teenager has been left traumatised since the attack. Merseyside Police detective constable Anna Hackett said: “Michael Young put his victim through a terrifying ordeal which I have no doubt will stay with her for the rest of her life. “He befriended her whilst she was on a night out in Liverpool and pretended he wanted to help her, but instead subjected her to a sustained and violent attack. “Luckily someone heard her shouting for help and officers arrested Young a short time later. “This sentence reflects the seriousness of the offence committed by Young, who is a calculating and determined sex offender. The fact he is now safely behind bars means he cannot do this to other women. “His victim has shown remarkable bravery and fortitude over a period of nearly eight months since the attack happened.” April 2007 Mobiles warning as text child rapist is jailed MOBILE phones are as dangerous a breeding ground for paedophiles and rapists as the internet, police warned today. The alert came today as Michael Young, 21, begins an indefinite jail sentence for raping a 14-year-old girl he groomed through text messaging by pretending he was 16. Young, of Tuebrook, dragged his schoolgirl victim into bushes in Kirkby after gaining her trust during a two-week bombardment of messages to her phone. Liverpool crown court heard he obtained her number from a mutual friend, and the flattered teenager, described as “naive” and “young for her age” by her parents , willingly agreed. But in a police video interview played to the court, the girl described how after they met he placed his hands around her throat and covered her mouth as she screamed for him to stop. She said: “I was scared. He said ‘If you scream again, I’ll punch you’.” She finally escaped and ran, partially dressed, to a nearby house. Today Detective Inspector Chris Green of Merseyside police said while many young girls were lured into danger and groomed using the internet, more and more found themselves in peril because of text and picture messaging. He said: “This young girl has shown amazing courage and she has strong support from her family. “But phone calls and text messages to strangers is becoming a recurring theme in a lot of investigations into indecent assaults and girls going missing.” Meanwhile the girl’s family say after seven months of living a nightmare they can finally look to the future. Her mother, who cannot be identified, said: “My daughter has just been an inspiration to me. She has helped me get through because she is being so brave. “It is a very hurtful subject to think and talk about and we do not mention it at home. If she needs to talk, she knows we are here for her. “To me it still feels like a dream and one day we will wake up and it won’t have ever happened. “She used to be a bubbly and outgoing girl but that has changed. “ But at least now he is behind bars we can open a new chapter of our lives.” Her father added: “The police have done an excellent job for us and our daughter, and the elderly lady who opened the door to her when she was in trouble will never know how grateful we are to her.”
