In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Harraby in Carlisle, Michael Webber, a 58-year-old resident of Edgehill Road, has admitted to possessing an alarming number of indecent images of children on his personal computer. The revelations came to light during a court hearing held at Carlisle's Rickergate Magistrates' Court in May 2018.
Webber faced multiple charges related to the possession and downloading of obscene images, most of which depicted minors. The charges included downloading 1,499 images classified as Category A, which is considered the most severe level of child exploitation material. Additionally, he admitted to downloading 3,484 images categorized as Category B, and a staggering 216,142 images classified as Category C, indicating a vast collection of illegal content.

District Judge Gerald Chalk, presiding over the case, emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that the case was so serious that it required sentencing by a judge at Carlisle Crown Court. The case was therefore transferred to the higher court for further proceedings. Webber was granted bail and scheduled to appear at the Crown Court on May 11, 2018, for sentencing.
