GLASGOW LAW STUDENT JAILED FOR CAMPAIGN OF SEXUAL ABUSE AND RAPE
A law student named Michael Tupper, who sexually abused three women over a period of several years, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The victims, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, described enduring significant abuse.
One victim, who was only 16 when the assaults began, stated that Tupper would often say, 'His favourite line was sit down and be a good girl.' She recounted how he would go for her if she answered back and described how he threatened her with the phrase, 'Nobody would believe me and it can't be rape in a relationship.' She also revealed that he kneeled her in the stomach when she was pregnant and raped her in the woods.
The third victim, aged 21, said she thought her abusive behavior was normal because she believed that was how relationships worked.
Tupper denied all allegations during his trial at the High Court in Glasgow but was convicted of multiple charges, including rape and sexual assault.
Judge Lady Scott sentenced him to ten years and stipulated that he would be supervised for an additional two years upon release.
The court heard that Tupper's crimes spanned from 2004 until last year, involving assault and rape at various locations including woods near Johnstone, Glasgow’s east end, and Ayr.
The prosecutor described his conduct as manipulative and violent, emphasizing that he posed a significant danger to women.
