EDINBURGH PAEDOPHILE MICHAEL TULLY CAUGHT BY GROOM RESISTERS SCOTLAND GETS SUPERVISION AND REHAB
In January 2019, a man from Edinburgh named Michael William Tully faced justice after being caught in a sting operation conducted by the paedophile hunting group known as 'Groom Resisters Scotland.' Tully was apprehended after attempting to engage with what he believed was a young girl through online communications. The incident took place in Edinburgh, where Tully appeared before the Edinburgh Sheriff Court to face multiple serious charges.
During the court proceedings, Tully pleaded guilty to several offenses, including engaging in sexual communication with a minor, dangerous driving, and failing to report an accident.
The court was informed that Tully had deliberately contacted an online profile he thought belonged to a child.
Over a series of messages, he attempted to initiate sexual activity, sending explicit and suggestive messages with the clear intent of exploiting a young girl.
However, the individual Tully believed to be a child was not real; instead, it was a member of 'Groom Resisters Scotland,' a dedicated paedophile hunting team that operates online by posing as children to catch predators.
This sting operation successfully exposed Tully's intentions and led to his arrest.
In sentencing, the court decided that Tully would not serve a prison term but would instead be subject to a three-year supervision order.
As part of his rehabilitation, he was also ordered to complete 120 hours of Community Payback, a form of community service aimed at addressing his offending behavior.
Additionally, Tully was mandated to register as a sex offender immediately, a measure designed to monitor his activities and prevent further offenses.
Overall, the case highlights the ongoing efforts of online vigilante groups like 'Groom Resisters Scotland' to combat child exploitation and the legal system's response to such serious crimes in Edinburgh.
