Northolt Rapist
In March 2019, Michael Shaw, a 69-year-old man from Stable Close, Northolt, was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offences against a young girl.

Shaw was found guilty by a jury on Monday, 18 February, of seven charges: three counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 years old, three counts of causing or inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity, and one count of oral rape. His sentencing took place at Isleworth Crown Court.

The court heard that during the early 2000s, Shaw would meet the victim—who was known to him—at a location in west London. The abuse began with Shaw tickling the victim, who was in her early teens at the time, before progressing to sexual assault.

The victim reported the abuse to police in June 2017. Shaw was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault in July 2017. During his arrest, he denied the accusations, stating, “It’s not true.”

He was formally charged on 4 July 2018.
