March 2001 Phone text pervert had sex with schoolgirl DEFENDANT Michael Roots had unprotected sex three times in one night with an underage Weymouth schoolgirl, a court heard.

Magistrates at Dorchester were told that he slept with the girl after the pair exchanged a series of text messages on their mobile phones.

Roots, 31, of Station Road, Bristol, admitted having intercourse with a girl under 16 and will be sentenced atDorchester Crown Court on April 20.

The court heard how heavily-built Roots text messaged and phoned the girl with talk of sexual fantasies after meeting her in Weymouth.

Jonathan Kingdon, prosecuting, said the pair had consensual sex when Roots visited the girl again at a house in Weymouth.

He said: “The victim and defendant stayed up and sat together on the sofa.

“They were intimate, although short of sexual intercourse.” He said they went upstairs where the girl went into the room where he was staying and got into bed with him.

He added: “They had unprotected sex three times.

“The victim did not try to stop the sexual intercourse at any time and she was fully consensual to the acts.” Roots told police in an interview that he went to Weymouth with the intention of stopping the contact and messages between them.

He told officers that he battled with himself to stop when the girl got into bed with him and said it was “up to him” what happened.

Jim Rankin, defending, said Roots went to police a matter of days after the crime to admit what had happened.
