In December 2012, Michael Reynolds, a 29-year-old from Weston Coyney, was sentenced to prison after engaging in sexual activity with a minor. The incident occurred at a secluded location, Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court was told.
Prosecutor Neil Ahuja described how the victim became distressed during a car journey, stating, βThe conversation turned to sexual matters. The defendant discussed his own sex life.β
He explained that Reynolds took the girl to a remote lay-by and attempted to kiss her by leaning forward; she responded by kissing him back. As a car passed by, Reynolds became concerned and moved the girl to a more secluded spot, where they then had sex.
Mr. Ahuja added, βHe told her the incident would have to go to the grave with her, or something serious would happen otherwise.β
Reynolds, whose address is listed as Lydford Place, Weston Coyney, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a child.
In his defense, Peter McCartney remarked, βHe describes the offence as the biggest mistake of his life.β
Judge Paul Glenn sentenced Reynolds to 20 months in prison, ordered him to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years, and imposed an indefinite ban from working with children. The judge also commented, βYou had consensual sex and told her to keep quiet.β
