MICHAEL PATRICK OF MAESYCWMMER JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN CAERPHILLY

In a case that has shocked the local community, Michael Patrick, a 62-year-old resident of Gwerna Crescent in Maesycwmmer, has been sentenced to prison for his heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl.

The offences took place over a span of several years, specifically between 1979 and 1982, within the boundaries of Caerphilly county.

Patrick was brought to justice after admitting to one count of indecent assault and being convicted of another similar charge following a trial.

The court proceedings revealed the disturbing details of his crimes, which involved abusing a girl who was between the ages of eight and ten during the period of the offences.

Judge Catherine Richards addressed Patrick directly during the sentencing, emphasizing the severity and lifelong impact of his actions.

She stated, “I have to sentence you for two occasions when you sexually assaulted and abused a young girl aged eight to 10 years of age.

The impact upon her is clear – the impact of offending of this kind is lifelong.” As a result of his conviction, Michael Patrick was sentenced to five years in prison.

Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offenses.

The court also imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and interactions to protect the community from potential harm.
