MICHAEL MCKENNA FROM DUBLIN SENTENCED TO 3 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 7-YEAR-OLD BOY
In December 2011, a tragic and disturbing case unfolded in Dublin involving Michael McKenna, a man with a troubled past, who was ultimately sentenced to three years in prison for heinous crimes against a young child.McKenna, who was residing at Backlane Hostel in Christchurch, Dublin, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and one count of false imprisonment during a court hearing held on February 25th, 2011.
During the proceedings, McKenna was visibly emotional, weeping as he faced the court.
The victim’s father, overwhelmed with anger and grief, shouted at McKenna as he was led away in custody, calling him “an animal.” The court was informed that the incident began when the young boy, just seven years old, was playing football alone outside his home.
At that moment, McKenna approached him, asking for the ball and engaging him in conversation.
McKenna then lured the child to his house under the pretense of playing a newly released Playstation game.
Once inside, McKenna took the boy to an upstairs bedroom, where the assault took place.
According to court records, McKenna removed the child's trousers, pushed him onto the bed, and began kissing him on the mouth and face.
The assault escalated as McKenna performed oral sex on the child, who was crying and pleading for him to stop and to be allowed to go home.
Despite the child's distress, McKenna repeatedly told him, “10 minutes.” Further horrifying details emerged during the investigation.
McKenna then exposed himself, asking the child to perform oral sex on him.
The young boy, now crying loudly and standing up, pushed McKenna away in an attempt to escape.
The situation worsened when McKenna, concerned that another tenant in the house might hear the child's cries, took him downstairs to a laundry room.
There, he assaulted the boy again in a similar manner, warning him not to tell his parents before releasing him.
As the boy made his way home, he confided in an older child among his friends about what had happened.
His father, upon discovering the incident, immediately contacted the Gardaí.
However, McKenna, who is originally from the United Kingdom, had already fled the scene.
Law enforcement officials tracked him down, and he was subsequently arrested and brought to justice.
Today, Michael McKenna was sentenced to three years in prison for his crimes, a verdict that reflects the severity of his actions and the impact on the young victim and his family.
The case has left a lasting scar on the community and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children from such predatory behavior.
