In a significant case that has drawn considerable attention in the town of Scunthorpe, a man identified as Michael Massey has been handed a substantial prison sentence following his conviction for serious crimes involving a child. The offences, which occurred during the summer months of the previous year, culminated in Massey, aged 31 and residing on Melbury Walk in Scunthorpe, being sentenced to six years behind bars at Grimsby Crown Court.

The court proceedings revealed the disturbing details of Massey's actions, which included the abduction of a young child and engaging in sexual activities with the victim. These crimes have deeply shocked the local community and prompted a strong response from law enforcement authorities.

Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant John Shepherd of Humberside Police expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing the importance of removing offenders like Massey from the streets. He stated, “I am extremely pleased with the outcome today and am reassured that Massey is now off the streets.”

Detective Shepherd also took the opportunity to encourage other victims of child sexual offences to come forward, assuring them that their voices would be heard and that the police would take decisive action. “We will listen to you, we will believe you and we will take action against offenders,” he affirmed.

Furthermore, the detective praised the dedicated efforts of the police team involved in the investigation, acknowledging their hard work that led to the successful prosecution. He issued a stern warning to potential offenders, saying, “Massey now has a long prison sentence ahead of him and I hope that today’s sentencing serves as a warning to anyone else considering committing these types of offences. We will find you and bring you to justice.”
