MICHAEL LINES SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN IN MILTON KEYNES
A resident of Milton Keynes, Michael Lines, has received a significant prison sentence of seven years after being convicted of multiple sexual offences involving minors.The case, which was the result of a comprehensive investigation by Thames Valley Police, highlights the serious nature of the crimes committed by Lines, a man aged 41 who was formerly residing in Oxley Park, Milton Keynes.
The criminal proceedings revealed that Lines was found guilty by a jury of three charges: two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16, and one count of sexual activity with a minor while in a position of trust.
These offences took place over a span of five years, from 2010 to 2015, and involved victims who were ranging in age from 14 to 18 years old.
The timeline indicates that Lines exploited his position of trust and authority during these encounters, further complicating the nature of his crimes.
Charges against Lines were formally brought in December 2016, and he was eventually convicted of the offences on July 19, 2017.
The sentencing took place at Blackfriars Crown Court on June 25, with the court imposing a sentence of seven years in prison.
Beyond his time behind bars, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, aligning with legal standards for such serious offences.
Additionally, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was issued against him, thereby restricting his activities to prevent further harm and to monitor his behavior post-release.
In an unrelated trial held at Aylesbury Crown Court, which concluded in April, Lines was acquitted of two additional charges that accused him of sexual activity with another minor.
Despite this acquittal, the overall case underscores the grave concerns surrounding his conduct.
Detective Constable Tonya Livingston, who is part of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit at Bletchley police station, provided comments on the case, emphasizing the emotional damage caused by Lines.
She stated, "Lines, having wreaked emotional havoc on the children involved in these offences, continued to deny any wrongdoing on his part." Her remarks also highlighted the toll taken on the victims and their families, noting that the process of seeking justice has been arduous.
One young witness was required to give evidence three times, illustrating the emotional strain placed on victims during the lengthy judicial process.
Another victim faced nearly a year of waiting before the sentencing was carried out.
The judge's sentence reflects the gravity of Lines' misconduct and the callousness demonstrated throughout the trial proceedings.
