NEIGHBOUR INTERVENES AS MAN ASSAULTS WOMAN IN WYKE HOME
A vicious thug repeatedly punched a woman and trapped her in his home in a prolonged attack.
On Thursday, August 29, Bradford Crown Court heard how the woman had visited the home of Michael Hudson in February after he promised to give her some money before he suddenly started attacking her.
The 33-year-old from Westcombe Court, Wyke, had left the woman with a nasty black eye after punching her with "an upper cut" two months earlier.
Prosecutor Nick Adlington stated that during the February attack, which lasted several hours, the woman described "cowering under a kitchen table" to escape Hudson’s violence.
When she attempted to leave, Hudson intervened and prevented her from leaving, ultimately carrying her back into the premises when she managed to exit.
When the woman escaped a second time, a neighbour observed Hudson punch her and grab her by the throat.
The neighbor intervened and called 999, staying with the victim until police arrived.
The woman sustained bruising and cuts to her face and head.
Hudson, of Westcombe Court, Wyke, was remanded in custody after his arrest and in June pleaded guilty to two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
He had previously served six years in jail for wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm in 2013.
The court imposed an indefinite restraining order banning Hudson from contacting the woman, suspended his 24-month jail sentence for two years, and ordered him to undertake a 120-day alcohol abstinence monitoring program, complete a Building Better Relationships course, and fulfill a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
Hudson, appearing via prison video link, told the judge: 'You’ll never see me in a court again.' The judge warned him that although he received a 'get out of jail' card, it was not 'a get out of jail free' card, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling his promises and intentions of change.
