MICHAEL HENDERSON FROM EDINBURGH SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE IN GREENBANK
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Edinburgh community, Michael Henderson, a 19-year-old resident of Firrhill Crescent, was handed a life sentence at the High Court in Edinburgh for a heinous attempted rape. The incident took place in the Greenbank area of the city, where Henderson was caught trying to assault a 16-year-old girl inside her own home.
According to court reports, Henderson's attack was sudden and violent, catching the young girl off guard during her piano practice.
The court was told that Henderson's actions demonstrated a disturbing pattern of escalating sexual fantasies, which, according to Lady Cosgrove, posed a significant risk of future violent sexual crimes.
She emphasized this point when delivering the sentence, stating, "On your own admission your fantasies have progressed to abduction, prolonged abuse and the eventual killing of your victim." Henderson pleaded guilty to the attempted rape, which occurred on July 5 of that year.
The court also heard about his prior criminal behavior, including an assault on a 27-year-old woman in the Oxgangs area of Edinburgh.
Additionally, Henderson admitted to stealing women's underwear from washing lines, further illustrating his troubling pattern of predatory conduct.
The judge's decision to impose a life term reflects the seriousness of Henderson's crimes and the potential danger he poses to society.
The case has raised concerns about the safety of residents in Edinburgh, especially in the Greenbank and Oxgangs neighborhoods, where Henderson's criminal activities have left a lasting impact.
