May 2010 Prison term for pervert who groomed girl from age of 11 A paedophile gave beer, money and amphetamine to a girl he groomed and repeatedly sexually abused. Michael Terence Greasley began a seven-and-a-half-year jail term for the crimes on Saturday – his 67th birthday. The offences began when he was in his 50s and the child he befriended was 11. He won her over with flattery and kindness before repeatedly subjecting her to sexual activity, from the age of 12 or 13. As Greasley was led down to the die in there.” Greasley, of The Close, Ratby, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecency with a child and four of indecent assault, between 1995 and 2001. Sarah Knight, prosecuting, said Greasley made the girl watch a video of him having sex and also filmed himself abusing his victim. Now an adult, the victim reported the matter to police after confiding in a friend. Ms Knight said the defendant started giving her amphetamines, and also gave some to another girl. She said: “He would put amphetamine in the victim’s coffee and said it would help her. “He’d give her treats, including cigarettes, beer and money and buy her gifts.” Having made her “grateful”, he began having sex with her when she was 13 or 14. The defendant was originally charged with rape, which he denied. He admitted indecent assault. No condom was used and the abuse continued even after the girl formed a relationship with a teenage boy. She became pregnant and there was a question mark over whether the defendant was the father. He threatened to kill her if she told his wife, the court heard. Ms Knight said Greasley’s continued manipulation of the girl had “blighted her life” and affected her relationships. Passing sentence, Judge Michael Pert QC said: “I have to sentence you for the corruption of a child. “Over a period of time, you corrupted her so much that in the end she didn’t know right from wrong. “Your conduct has had a massive effect on her life as a young woman and an adult.” James House, in mitigation, said: “He has now begun to think through why it happened and the consequences. “He has now read the victim impact statement and it appears to have had something of an impact upon him.” Greasley, a former lorry driver, is forbidden from working with children and will have to enlist on the sex offenders’ register on his release.
