MICHAEL GRAHAM FROM BELFAST SENTENCED AND REGISTERED AS SEX OFFENDER AFTER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY DISCOVERY
In December 2017, a man from Belfast was officially placed on the sex offenders register for a period of five years following a comprehensive investigation conducted jointly by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).Michael Graham, aged 38, appeared before the Laganside Crown Court in Belfast on December 12th, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to child exploitation.
Specifically, he admitted to possessing four indecent images of children and creating five such images, which involved the distribution or making of illegal content.
The court's ruling also included a probation period of three years, during which Graham will be under supervision.
After this probationary period concludes, he will remain under supervision for an additional year, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and compliance with legal restrictions.
Graham's arrest took place in 2016 when officers from the NCA and PSNI executed a search warrant at his residence in Belfast.
During the investigation, authorities examined his laptop and discovered approximately 100 indecent images of children.
These images had been downloaded from the internet, indicating his active involvement in viewing and possibly sharing illegal material.
Rob Burgess, who serves as the regional head of investigations for the NCA covering Scotland and Northern Ireland, issued a statement emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling serious crime.
He stated, “NCA and PSNI officers work together to protect the public from serious and organised crime.
Those who download, share or view indecent images of children prolong the abuse of the victims.” He further added, “Michael Graham will now have regular contact with the authorities in order to stop him re-offending,” highlighting the ongoing supervision and monitoring measures that will be in place to prevent any future criminal behavior.
