MICHAEL COLLINS FROM DUNFERMLINE SENTENCED AFTER VIOLENT DOMESTIC INCIDENT
In September 2024, Michael Collins, a 39-year-old man with a long history of domestic offences, faced sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court following a disturbing incident at his residence in Dunfermline.According to court records, Collins admitted to a series of violent actions that took place on the night of August 25th.
The incident unfolded at his home in Dunfermline around 1.50am, during which he engaged in a heated argument with his then partner.
During this altercation, Collins pulled a television off the wall, causing it to crash onto the ground and sustain damage.
The court heard that he then shouted at his partner, escalating the situation further.
Adding to the violence, Collins picked up a knife and struck a table with it, demonstrating a dangerous level of aggression.
The depute fiscal, Christine Allan, detailed these events in court, emphasizing the severity of the disturbance and Collins’ aggressive behaviour during the incident.
It was also revealed that Collins has a troubling criminal record, with three previous convictions related to domestic offences.
His history of violence and misconduct was highlighted during the proceedings, with Sheriff Krista Johnston describing his record as “terrible”.
In response to his actions, the court imposed a community payback order that includes two years of supervision.
As part of this order, Collins is required to participate in the Caledonian Programme, which is designed to address domestic violence issues.
Additionally, he was subjected to a two-month restriction of liberty order, limiting his movements and freedoms during this period.
This case underscores the ongoing concerns about domestic violence and the importance of holding offenders accountable to prevent further harm within communities like Dunfermline.
