Oldham Sexual Abuser
In July 2014, police issued a warrant for the arrest of Michael Bennett, a convicted child sex offender, who has been missing for nearly a month. Bennett, formerly residing on Tensing Street in Oldham, was scheduled to stand trial at Preston Crown Court for sexual assaults involving two young girls. However, he failed to appear for the hearing on June 23, leading to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

Despite his absence, the case proceeded, and Bennett was ultimately convicted on two counts of child abduction and two counts of sexual assault related to the two victims, both of whom were 11 years old.

Authorities have now appealed directly to the public for assistance, urging anyone who has seen Bennett or has information about his current whereabouts to come forward. Bennett, who is 60 years old, is described as bald, with a round face, and of a large build.

DC Marc Armstrong stated: “We have recent information to believe that Bennett has been in the Fleetwood and St Annes areas and he also has connections to Ashton-under-Lyne and Oldham.

“We would urge him to hand himself into police, and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen him or who knows of his whereabouts to contact police.”

Residents and members of the public are encouraged to call 101 or Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111, or visit the Crimestoppers website at crimestoppers-uk.org to provide any relevant information.
