MAXWEL MIRANDA AND SHOCKING SEX OFFENCES IN OXFORD
A man identified as Maxwel Miranda, a known sex offender residing in Oxford, faced serious allegations after evidence was uncovered during police investigations that linked him to disturbing child exploitation material.Miranda was found in possession of a video depicting two naked boys engaging in wrestling, a scene that eventually revealed one of the children sexually assaulting the other.
The video, discovered on his WhatsApp messages, was reportedly shared with three other contacts, raising concerns about the distribution of such content.
The police investigation intensified when a specialist officer conducted an unannounced inspection of the flat where Miranda was living with his wife on July 19 of the previous year.
During the search, the officer reviewed the contents of Miranda’s iPhone, uncovering not only the video in question but also two highly disturbing images exhibiting extreme pornography involving bestiality.
Miranda claimed that the video was a result of being sent by friends from Brazil and maintained that such behavior was regarded as normal for children there.
He denied any involvement in sharing or distributing the videos.
Despite these claims, authorities confirmed that no other indecent images were located on his device, nor was there any evidence that he searched the internet for child sexual abuse material.
Nevertheless, Miranda’s history of offending stretched back further.
Just a few weeks prior, he was convicted for assaulting a 16-year-old girl he had picked up in his car on Cowley Road.
That previous conviction was followed by a more severe charge involving a series of sexual assaults against another young girl.
In August, Miranda was found guilty of multiple counts of groping the girl’s breasts and private areas, including an incident that occurred after they had attended church together in Swindon.
The impact of Miranda’s prior and recent offenses had devastating effects on the victims.
One young girl, identified only through her representative, expressed the significant emotional trauma she endured.
Gabielle McAvock, speaking at Oxford Crown Court, detailed the victim’s struggles, stating: “The defendant’s offending caused the victim to become suicidal, to self-harm; she tried to jump from the third floor of the flat where she lived.
She suffered from flashbacks, had difficulty sleeping, and her school life was severely affected.” In light of all these findings, Judge Nigel Daly handed down a substantial prison sentence of eight years to Miranda.
In his remarks, the judge addressed Miranda’s apparent pattern of exploiting vulnerable young women for sexual gratification, describing him as “a man quite prepared to exploit the vulnerability of young women to satisfy his sexual needs.” Following sentencing, Miranda, who is currently without a fixed address, faces strict legal restrictions.
These include an indefinite restraining order preventing contact with the underage victim and an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
His case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to pursue justice for victims of sexual abuse and to clamp down on the exploitation of children.
