SHREWSBURY MAN MATTHEW WHARTON ADMITS TO MAKING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
In a recent court appearance at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court, a 25-year-old man named Matthew Wharton from First Terrace, Shrewsbury, pleaded guilty to charges related to the creation of indecent images of children. The charges stem from activities that took place over a span of several months, specifically from November 2014 to February 2015.During the proceedings, it was revealed that Wharton had produced a total of 272 indecent photographs of minors, along with three indecent videos depicting children. These illicit images and videos were discovered on a Samsung mobile phone, which was likely seized during an investigation into the case.
The court was informed of the details surrounding the case, and Wharton’s admission of guilt marked a significant development in the ongoing legal process. The case was subsequently adjourned to the higher court, Shrewsbury Crown Court, where it is scheduled to be heard on February 22.
As part of the legal proceedings, Wharton was granted conditional bail, allowing him to remain free until his next court appearance, pending the fulfillment of certain conditions set by the authorities. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Shrewsbury to combat crimes involving the exploitation of minors and the possession of illegal images.
