A table tennis coach has confessed to having sexual relations with a teenage girl he met during a tournament.
Matthew Morris, aged 29 and from Chesterfield in Derbyshire, traveled to hotels in Glasgow from July to November 2013 to meet the 15-year-old girl.
He was apprehended after colleagues at the English Table Tennis Association raised concerns which were reported to the police.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Morris’s sentencing was postponed pending further background reports, and his bail was extended.
He was also registered on the sex offenders' list.
The court was informed that Morris and the girl — who is legally protected from being identified — first met at a tournament in Liverpool when he was 27 and she was 14.
It was revealed that their involvement began when she turned 15.
Other staff members at the association discovered the relationship, leading to police involvement.
Morris was questioned by authorities in March 2014 and was subsequently released.
Further examination of the girl’s phone by police uncovered ten images featuring Morris.
These included photos of them kissing on beds and pictures of Morris’s body sent to her directly.
