WREXHAM MAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER THREATENING PREGNANT PARTNER
A Wrexham man has been given a suspended sentence after threatening his pregnant partner and pressuring her to drop charges.
Matthew Mills, of Ty Newydd, Coed Aben, appeared before Mold Crown Court this morning (November 17) for sentence.
The 29-year-old admitted perverting the course of justice and common assault.
Ms Davies, who was 19 weeks pregnant with Mills’ child, contacted police on September 12, 2025, following an incident the previous evening.
The couple had been arguing since August last year, with Mills displaying excessive jealousy and threatening violence.
During the incident, Mills said he would go to her cousin's house and injure him, then followed her into the bedroom, crouched over her with clenched fists, and threatened to punch her teeth down her throat.
He also threw her phone across the room.
After she contacted police, Mills began pressuring her to retract her allegations through calls and messages, including via a friend.
He threatened that if he went to jail because of her, he would come to see her.
Ms Davies described feeling unsafe and suffering emotional stress, which impacted her ability to work.
Mills was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and must complete 26 sessions of an accredited program and 10 rehabilitation days.
He will also be monitored by GPS for six months and is subject to a 10-year Domestic Abuse Protection Order prohibiting contact with Ms Davies.
