According to court records, Leys subjected his former partner to a pattern of cruel and controlling behavior that included mocking her late father's memory and making deeply hurtful comments encouraging her to take her own life. Specifically, he reportedly told her, "Go be with your dad. Your dad would be ashamed of you. Go kill yourself." Such remarks were described as not only emotionally damaging but also indicative of a disturbing pattern of intimidation and manipulation.
In addition to verbal abuse, Leys's conduct escalated to physical acts of violence. Court proceedings revealed that he chased her in a vehicle, creating a threatening and intimidating environment. He also engaged in acts of physical humiliation by smearing his own saliva and snot across her face, actions that witnesses described as disgusting and frightening.
