A 22-year-old man named Matthew Hindhaugh has pleaded guilty to kidnapping a minor with the intent to commit rape. Hindhaugh appeared at Durham Crown Court, where he admitted to multiple charges, including the kidnapping of a girl under 16 years old. The offenses took place in February and included an assault during which he deliberately strangled the victim. Additionally, Hindhaugh was convicted of possessing a samurai sword.

Overall, he pleaded guilty to eight counts, which encompassed assault causing actual bodily harm and three counts of creating indecent images of children. Some of these images were classified as the most severe category. The court was informed that these crimes occurred on 27 February. Judge Richard Clews, who presided over the case, described Hindhaugh's actions as very serious and indicated that a custodial sentence was unavoidable.

The case has been adjourned for further probation and psychiatric evaluations, with sentencing scheduled for June.
