PC GUILTY OF SEXUAL ASSAULTS
A North Yorkshire police officer named Matthew Fisher has been sentenced to 15 months in jail after being convicted of sexually assaulting two women while on duty. The court heard that Fisher, 37, of York Road, Selby, also admitted to misconduct in a public office related to sexual activity during work hours.
Judge Michael Mettyear, sitting at Hull Crown Court, sentenced Fisher to 15 months incarceration.
The judge stated, "You let yourself down, let your family down and let the police force down," acknowledging Fisher's service but condemning his actions.
The court also described Fisher as a 'sex pest' due to his conduct, which included meeting women on patrol, flirting, and offering sexual services in their homes.
One assault involved Fisher placing a woman’s hand on his genitals after she asked for a lift, while another involved him pulling up a pub landlady’s top to look at her breasts and placing her hand on his groin.
Jurors heard that some acts were consensual, while others were not, and Fisher's behaviour was characterized as constant suggestiveness that became a nuisance.
The court heard that Fisher had been a brave police officer at times but succumbed to a high sexual appetite, which he found difficult to resist.
He was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault against two women and was also convicted of using a police computer to look up personal details unlawfully.
Fisher also admitted to having consensual sexual relations while on duty, which constituted misconduct.
