March 2019 Chaddesden teacher secretly filmed young boy in the shower A former teacher at a Derby secondary school had alost 2,000 sick child abuse images of underage boys on his laptop, some as young as two. A court heard how police found almost 800 of the most serious category of movies and photographs which typically show young boys engaging in full sex with adults on Matthew Bradley’s device. The 25-year-old, who taught science at Lees Brook Community School in Chaddesden, also secretly filmed a “young boy” while the victim was naked and showering in a wash room at a campsite. The school has confirmed it suspended him from duty when it became aware of the allegations and has now sacked him after he admitted voyeurism and indecent images charges. It is the second time the school has been embroiled in a sex offenders scandal in recent months. In January, one of its other teachers Christopher Davis was placed on the Sex Offenders Register after forming an inappropriate relationship with a teenage pupil. In this latest case, Bradley, a former University of Derby student, was handed a 10-month jail term, suspended for two years. Sentencing him, Recorder Martin Hurst said: “Anybody who watches that filth should be utterly repulsed. “All of the children in those movies and images are real children being abused, sometimes by their own families. “But you went further, deliberately filming a young boy by putting your camera phone under a shower divide at a holiday camp.” Priya Bakshi, prosecuting at Leicester Crown Court, said police raided Bradley’s former home in Leicestershire on May 17 last year. She said his devices were seized and examined and found to contain 747 category A abuse images and movies, 533 category B and 683 category C. Miss Bakshi said: “They were all of boys aged two to 16 years old. “An iPhone was also analysed and on it was a video the defendant had taken while he was on holiday at a campsite in August 2017. “It was 37 seconds long but that had been slowed down from the original four second clip. “It showed him in the shower block and deliberately drop a bottle of shower gel on to the floor. “When the person in the next cubicle bent down to pick it up he filmed him under the shower divide.” Bradley, now of Birch Grove, Castleford, and who taught at Lees Brook from September 2017 to May 2018, pleaded guilty to voyeurism and three counts of possessing indecent images. As well as the suspended sentence he was handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. Recorder Hurst said to Roxanne Aisthorpe, Bradley’s barrister: “He’s been living a lie, he’s interested in young boys.” She replied: “Yes, he’s been struggling with his own sexuality and now regards himself as bi-sexual. “He has lost his job, his partner and everything he worked for. “His parents have placed child control on devices to prevent him searching out anything else like these images.”
