WIGAN PERVERT MATTHEW BENNETT CAUGHT IN POLICE STING INVOLVING UNDERCOVER OFFICERS
In September 2020, a disturbing case emerged involving Matthew Bennett, a resident of Wigan, who was apprehended following a police operation targeting online sexual offenses.Bennett, aged 26 and residing on Park Road in Wigan, was found to have engaged in illicit communications with individuals he believed to be underage girls.
However, these individuals were actually undercover police officers working to expose his predatory behavior.
During the investigation, Bennett admitted to a series of serious charges, including attempting to incite sexual activity with minors.
He faced a total of 11 charges in court, which detailed his actions over a period from January to July of that year.
Among these charges was the act of sending explicit images of himself to girls under the age of 16, a clear violation of laws protecting minors from sexual exploitation.
Additionally, he persuaded a 12-year-old girl to send him an indecent photograph of herself, further demonstrating his predatory intent.
One of the most alarming allegations involved Bennett persuading the mother of a seven-year-old girl to perform a sex act on him.
It was also alleged that he allowed himself to be sexually assaulted by her mother, an act that underscores the severity of his misconduct.
All of these interactions, which took place online, were part of a covert operation by law enforcement to catch him in the act.
When Bennett appeared before a judge at Bolton Crown Court, he did not contest the charges.
Instead, he pleaded guilty to all 11 counts, which included the distribution of indecent images of children.
His guilty plea marked a significant step in the case, but the sentencing was postponed until November 6 to allow for further legal proceedings and considerations.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts by police to combat online child exploitation and the dangers posed by individuals like Bennett, who seek to prey on minors through digital platforms.
The authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activity to protect vulnerable children from harm.
