A man from Chandler's Ford has been placed on a sex offenders' treatment program after being found with hundreds of disturbing images of children.

Martin Murrell, 55, was arrested in connection with possession of indecent images and pleaded guilty to multiple charges.

Police found approximately 1,150 images depicting children aged between one and 14, along with extreme content involving animals and violence.

He was given an eight-month suspended sentence and 24 months of supervised release, and will undergo a treatment programme aimed at reducing the risk of re-offending.
