WIGAN PAEDOPHILE MARTIN KELMAN SENTENCED AFTER ABUSING YOUNG BOY IN WIGAN
In a case that has shocked the community of Wigan, Martin Kelman, aged 38, was convicted of multiple sexual offences involving a young boy under the age of 13.The incident took place over a period of six months in 2014, during which Kelman, who was employed at the Oxygen Free Jumping facility in Wigan, engaged in repeated acts of sexual abuse against the innocent child.
Kelman’s arrest came in 2015, following the courageous decision of the young victim to disclose the abuse to his parents.
The child's bravery prompted the parents to report the matter to the police, leading to Kelman’s subsequent detention.
Despite his initial release on bail, the legal process was prolonged, and it was nearly 18 months before the case proceeded to trial at Manchester Crown Court.
During the trial, Kelman, who previously listed himself on Facebook as a Senior Residential Social Worker at Brookfield House Children’s Home, was found guilty of the charges brought against him.
The court heard how he had sexually assaulted the boy multiple times, causing significant distress and trauma to the young victim.
The judge overseeing the case sentenced Kelman to eight years in prison, emphasizing the severity of his actions.
Additionally, Kelman was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a requirement that underscores the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
The case has once again highlighted the importance of vigilance and the need to protect vulnerable children from predators within the community of Wigan.
