WEYMOUTH MAN MARTIN HUNT SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN SHOCKING PAEDOPHILE HUNT STING
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Weymouth community, Martin Hunt, a 40-year-old resident of Ranelagh Road, was handed a five-year prison sentence following his involvement in a covert operation conducted by a group of paedophile hunters. The operation uncovered Hunt's attempts to engage in sexual communication with what he believed to be underage girls, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction.
According to court proceedings at Bournemouth Crown Court, Hunt had been actively exchanging explicit messages with two individuals he thought were young girls named Kirsty, aged 12, and Lou, aged 13.
These profiles, which Hunt believed belonged to real minors, were in fact fabricated by the paedophile hunters, who had set up the profiles to catch individuals attempting to exploit children.
During the exchanges, Hunt sent hardcore pornography and made inappropriate inquiries about their underwear, sexual activity, and even asked if they had seen a penis.
The court detailed how Hunt's communications with 'Lou' included requests for explicit images, and he made disturbing comments about sexual acts involving animals and objects.
It was revealed that Hunt was already under a two-year suspended sentence and a sexual harm prevention order due to previous attempts to communicate sexually with a child in 2020.
Despite these restrictions, Hunt breached the order by acquiring a mobile phone, which he used to continue his inappropriate conversations with the fake profiles managed by the paedophile hunters.
Prosecutor Christopher Wing explained that Hunt's breach was discovered when the group visited his address on October 3 of the previous year and detained him until police arrived to arrest him.
During the investigation, Hunt's conversations with the fake profiles revealed further disturbing details.
He asked 'Kirsty' about underwear, whether she had seen a penis, and if she had engaged in sexual activity.
His interactions with 'Lou' included requests for explicit photographs, one of which was a picture of a girl on a horse.
Hunt also made lewd comments about bestiality and sexual acts involving household objects.
These exchanges demonstrated a clear pattern of predatory behavior and a blatant disregard for the law.
In sentencing, the court imposed a five-year prison term on Hunt.
Additionally, upon his release, he will serve a three-year licence period and be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for three years.
The judge also ordered that Hunt remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
